8 miles BooYa!

Longest run evah!

I actually felt pretty good

after I was done

other than be

HUNGRY!

Oh and now my stomach

ya

it doesn’t like

Shot Bloks

which is too bad

cause I love them!

Here are my splits

not great, but I am ok

cause I

SURVIVED 8 MILES!

Mile 1 13:02 (potty break at park)

Mile 2 13:14 (went wrong way, lots of traffic)

Mile 3 13:44 (another stop)

Mile 4 13:35 (back on Centennial Trail)

Mile 5 14:23 (taking in the view)

Mile 6 13:47 (around Riverstone Park a few times)

Mile 7 14:08 (underestimated, had to go past the KROC)

Mile 8 14:10 (Just wanted to be done, was HUNGRY!)

So this running thing isn’t so bad!

processing grief

I picked up my

Race for the Cure packet today

Was totally fine

Got my little bag

my shirts (I bought the tech T)

Walked over to a table of

Pink Ribbon stuff

and

lost it

like

crying lost it

I just turned and D was right there

I cried into his chest for a few minutes

my poor kids were like

what’s wrong with mom?

I don’t know where that came from

Same thing happened the first time

We went to the ocean after my dad died

I sure process grief weird

I don’t like to be normal I guess

Revised schedule

I blogged HERE about my schedule

I am changing things up

a bit

okay

a lot

Pretty much only 2 races on my original plan

Race for the Cure 04/17/11

Bloomsday 12k 05/01/11

then the rest, as follows

Relay for Life 5K 5/21/11

See Jan Run 1/2 Marathon 7/17/11

You Go Girl 1/2 Marathon 9/18/11

4.15.2011

Losing it

Yep I am losing it

weight!

In August I was 152

Today 145!

I am down 7ish pounds

I say 7ish

because the same 2 pounds

seem to miss me

and come back

I am not sure what exactly is the

key because I haven’t been to

the gym in 2 weeks!

I quit taking

fat burner pills

I started taking

Kelp tablets

and

I am drinking

Muscle Milk smoothies

Which by the way

THE best price on powder

is Costco

it is an investment

but MUCH better price than

Wal Mart

So my first race of the season is SUNDAY!

Race for the Cure 5K

This was my first race ever last spring.

I hope to PR that time

and if the world is on my side

PR my 5K time Smile

I will be blog about the race Sunday night

4.05.2011

a new plan…again

Well

I have changed my training plan

yet again

I am not going to

be able to walk the

3 Day for a Cure

in

Minneapolis.

Even if I were able to raise

the

$2300

with gas prices

as INSANE as they are

I can’t get there.

In October when I signed up

it wasn’t an issue

So

I will just

ya, just

run

See Jane Run

July 17th in Seattle

and

You Go Girl

September 18th in Tacoma

My goals?

To finish Seattle

PR Tacoma

Until I start that training

I am going to focus on strength

increasing my muscle to fat ratio

Just going with the flow…

Do you find plans change often?

Enjoy the Journey

I am back up and running.
Discharged from physical therapy yesterday!
Running pain free.
Today my body was tired.
Heavy tired.
The sun was GORGEOUS.
The wind not bad.
I loaded the kids and their bikes
so I could get my 4 miles.
I took it very easy.
15 minute mile easy
I wanted to Enjoy the Journey.
Feel the sun on my face.
Hear the birds
The trail ends and we end up in a neighborhood
in Stoneridge (golf community)
There were two little Kenyan children.
Standing so still I thought they were statues.
The girl, about 4, spoke to me.
I didn’t respond because I wasn’t sure
what she said.
Louder…
“DO YOU KNOW JESUS!?"
“Well Yes I do! Do You?”
“YES!!”
“AWESOME” I said.
Melt my heart!
On the way back my kids had gone on ahead.
This time the girl asked if they were my kids
I said “Yep.”
“Why they not in school?”
“I am their teacher” I said…”they do school at home”
“Oh”
That was sufficient apparently.
I really did more fast walking than even jogging today
Enjoying the journey.
Enjoying my kids.
Enjoying being asked if
I know Jesus!
We even stopped for a little picnic.
I blogged over at my homeschool blog
about throwing rocks and nature sketching.
Remember to
Enjoy the journey
Don’t get so caught up
in paces and distance
that running becomes a chore.
At least that is what I did for today.
Tomorrow may be a completely different
story.

1.11.2011

who am I?

I am a mom to 4
ages 11 1/2 to 20
no I am not old enough to
have a 20yr old
I started running 1 yr ago
weighing in at
163 lbs
I have since lost
15 lbs and 22 inches overall
Why did I start?
The Principal had suggested
we run Bloomsday
sure I said
lets do it
My first 5K on the treadmill
was 58 minutes
I felt like I had won a marathon!
I continued to train for that 12K
and decided to try a 5K
Race for the Cure
in honor of
I then did Bloomsday
and a few more 5K’s
Every time I got out there
I did it for Jamie thinking
she would probably
really LOVE to be running
Jamie lost her battle
October 4th, 2010
My goal is to always run
Race for a Cure
Spokane
and
Coeur d’ Alene
This August I am walking the
3 Day for a Cure
in
Minneapolis
with my cousin Jill (Jamie’s sister)
I am injured right now
and doing PT
for ITBS, Patellar tendinitis and achilles tendinitis
I will run again!
For Jamie.

12.31.2010

the numbers don’t lie

I started using Dailymile
almost from my very first run
so
Here are my stats (I ran an extra mile tonight)
319.65 320.65 miles completed
14lbs burned (scale says 15)
169 170 total workouts
277.75 278.57 doughnuts burned
90 hours of training
Not too bad for my 1st year of running
Can’t wait for what next year will bring!

Running gear and reading

DSCN5073

Santa was good to me with running stuffDSCN5072

And my kids knew to get me pretties for my not so pretty feet

These are the books I am reading right now.  Injured or not, reading keeps me motivated.

The Woman Triathlete

Triathlon for Women

Snowshoeing

12.21.2010

the DX

So it isn’t the end of the world

the doc said I have

Patellar Tendonitis

Tight IT Band

and

Achilles Tendonitis

I start my

6-8 weeks of PT

on January 3rd

35 minutes away

because you know

I have that kind of time

and money for gas

Part of me says

screw it

I don’t need to do PT

I don’t need to run

it costs money

for races

for clothes

for the gear

but I

LIKE RUNNING!

I have

GOALS!

I want to finish

a half marathon

and

a Sprint Tri

and yes my

HUGE GOAL

Coeur d Alene Ironman 2015

The year I turn 45

so bring on the PT

Let’s do this!

Ponderings

I am sitting here wondering, pondering.

Why?

Why in January of this year

did I finally start

this journey.

And why

is everyday a struggle

to get it done?

My first 5K on the treadmill took

almost an hour!

It was still 3.1 miles!

I had never walked or jogged

that far in my life.

The Saturday before Thanksgiving

I did it in 38 something!

My body is smaller

than it was in January.

I have lost weight and inches.

I feel great!

So why everyday do I

HATE IT?

Running on the treadmill is fine

it is the ice and ibuprofen

I hate.

It is the creaking and stiffness

getting out of the chair.

I am not so old that

I should be creaking.

Am I?

If you have the answers please share!

Off to ponder more…maybe even Shred

11.24.2010

Boo Ya! I PR’d

I ran a Turkey Trot Saturday.

I woke up feeling great.

Had a cup of coffee before leaving the house

then refilled for the 40 minute drive to CdA.

I was well rested.

I have been doing the 30 Day Shred

and I fully believe it helped me.

I am (feeling) stronger all over, not just my legs.

I tried to suck down an energy gel

GAG

I will stick with cheweys

It was a brisk 25ish and a little breezy

I was okay with that. I chose not to wear

my light jacket

instead I had on a tech shirt under

my Race for the Cure

long sleeved –ahem- cotton t-shirt

I also wore running pants

with shorts OVER them

so nobody had to look at my

big ‘ol butt in tights

I was set!

They let us go in waves…

I was in the last wave of 5K’rs

and since I am a 12 min mile

I thought for sure I would be last

I wasn’t

I was at about the 3.5K when I did the math

and figured out I would be getting a PR.

Not by a few seconds, but a full

2 MINUTES! (2:19 actually)

I felt like I had WON the race

Such a great feeling to PR!!

I compare it to my first race finish

While there won’t be another

first ever race

I do get to PR again.

10.24.2010

still here

Last week I upped my

per run mileage

and

did some Yoga

apparently my 40 year old

body decided it was too much

and rebelled

so I haven’t run in a week

I hate that

I hate when I get motivated and serious

my body gives out

not like my mind is playing games

maybe I am a wimp

at the same time

I can’t get hurt

and be laid up with an injury

I will get at it again this week

probably the dreadmill

but at least it’s moving

10.09.2010

The reason I run

I had signed up for Bloomsday

Part of my ‘training’ was

Spokane’s

Race for the Cure

in

Honor of

my cousin Jamie

my 2nd Race for the Cure

was 2 weeks ago

my next one will be

in memory of

Love you Jamie!

4/6/1971-10/3/10

I will not stop

Racing for a Cure!

10.02.2010

5K Day

no pictures

no cheers from the crowd

no actual race

just me and my lil ‘ol self

I ended up doing 4 miles

2 miles in town

got too stinking hot

and

drove 15 minutes to home

I decided I felt better and ran 2 more

I sure hope it isn’t 73 out

next Sunday for the

10K

In January I couldn’t

WALK

4 miles much less

wog it

Okay jog a bit, walk a bit

I have completed BOTH

Race for the Cure’s

without walking

Something special about them

I am motivated.

8.18.2010

Amazing….

I had my yearly appt. today

Doc was happy with my weight loss.

January 1, 2010

I was 165

today

152

It’s just a number

I didn’t keep track of inches

darn it!

I am also weaning off of my

“happy pills”

Which is good too.

Amazing how running

clears my head,

lightens my heart,

and refreshes my mood.

It helps me re-focus

or not focus on anything.

8.11.2010

Getting my groove back

I think I am finally getting my groove back.
Did I tell ya'all I stepped on a nail?
I did
Two weeks of no running

I am feeling good now
my foot still aches once in awhile
but it is my achilles that is a pain
As long as I ice it
after a run
or
when it feels stiff
or
when it hurts
I
am good.
Why do I run?
I find if I am in
the mood to run
I better go
run
because that mood
may not happen again
in the same day
I LOVE
the way my body feels
AFTER
a run
I have yet to regret
going out
even if I felt after 100 yards
I wanted to turn around
I LOVE how
my legs feel tired
or
how sweaty I am
I know
GROSS
but it just proves to me
that I put an effort into it
I also LOVE
the feeling of a
COLD SHOWER
afterwards

Why do you run?

6.28.2010

still at it

So I am still running

Went to watch the

Coeur d Alene Ironman

pretty inspiring

Would like to try a

Triathlon

but who knows

I am staying on track

for the Sandpoint Scenic Half

up to 4 miles….

I am still a wogger though

you know

Walker/Jogger

my pace varies

12-15 min. mile

I would be happy to be closer to 12

but

in January I was happy

just to be able to move

forward…..and faster

than a 20 minute mile

What are you up to for the summer race wise?

leave me a comment with

your plans….

6.15.2010

where is your wall

at what point do you hit your wall

what exactly is ‘a wall’

To me

my wall

is when I get to that

why am I here?

how much longer?

do I have to keep going?

Every run at about the 2nd mile

I wonder why the heck

I am out there.

I don’t really like running.

I do,however, love the feeling

AFTER

the run.

I can’t recall a time

that I felt worse

AFTER

a run.

Running is always worth it.

4.23.2010

getting on track

no pun intended
actually it is track and field season
so running on the highschool
track isn't possible

I have been forcing myself
to run outside
it is harder
I actually miss my treadmill
well cause it is nicer to me
then the pavement
I ache the next day
from the pavement

BUT
I enjoy the fresh air
so
I will persevere
and stay
outside

Next up
a
12K
